Do You Comment?

Claudia Forward - Wednesday, January 26, 2011

I love reading posts on other blogs.  There is always something to be learnt whether it is a new skill or new information.  One of my special loves is looking at other people's photos.  They are a window opening directly into their lives.  Facebook is an especially great place for spotting photos.

I wrote a post some time ago about how to make the most of your photos on Facebook. When someone posts a photo of their newborn or their wedding, every comment that someone leaves puts a smile on their face.   I know how I felt when I read the comments on this photo which I posted on Facebook.

Have you thought to leave comments on a blog post or a photo that you like?  Many people read and enjoy what others have created but very few leave comments.  The internet is a wonderful tool for sharing ideas and information but sometimes it can feel as though you are operating in a vacuum.  There is nothing so good as feedback.  It's human contact and acknowledgement of what you have done.

So, next time something appeals to you, if you have something to say why not write it?  Don’t assume that they know you think it is a great photo or a clever post.  Tell them.  A comment is nice as it leaves evidence that you have viewed their photos or read their work.  The world is not really a vacuum/

Facebook Photos: Look at Mine!

Claudia Forward - Thursday, July 15, 2010
Let's face it, we all post photos to Facebook so that people look at them. So, how do you get them viewed?

We have done some brainstorming and come up with some tips, see below:

  1. Less is more
You may love every changing facial expression of your baby and every angle of that beautiful landscape, but this is personal to you. One or two of each is enough. Additionally, hundreds of photos of your holiday is also not necessary - keep it interesting for others.

  2. Give and you shall receive
Comments lots - comment often. Look at your friends photos and make comments on them. Everyone loves positive feedback. Be specific to the photo.

  3. Consider the Privacy of others - especially when it comes to photos of kids
Do not post photos of other kids unless you have the parents permission. Also, some people do not like photos of themselves on the internet, be aware of this.

  4. Be appropriate
If you have photos of your best friend in a not so positive light, don't include it. The internet is a public forum, you don't know who is looking. Consider the impression you want to leave with others.

  5. Tag others
Most people like to see photos of themselves, so include them in yours.
